Our elementary program teaches children ages 5 through 10, with its unique, well-established education program. The Cottage Elementary School serves families with school-age children from the surrounding communities who are looking for a well-rounded academic program integrating traditional subject areas of fine arts, language, literature, social studies, mathematics, physical education, and the natural world in a cooperative, not competitive, environment. The Cottage Elementary School has a non-discriminatory policy, accepts students on a year-round, non-selective basis, and offers reduced tuition and scholarships to families demonstrating financial need.

The Cottage Elementary School (CES) develops the love of learning, free of pressure and sustained by a spirit of discovery. CES honors and feeds the child's innate sense of curiosity, fostering a life-long love of learning. It is academics and art in daily communion.

More precisely, CES is an outstanding, alternative for children entering Kindergarten through 4th grade. Using the NJ Core Curriculum Content Standards as its foundation, CES has developed its own curriculum and materials to exceed expectations on many levels.

"If you want your child to succeed in college, the play-based curriculum is the way to go."

The link below is a great video about education that was mentioned during our meeting. Please take a moment (20 minutes) to watch this video which is very revealing and in tune with The Cottage Schools. Ken Robinson has also recently done another talk in TED that you can find on the Internet, and has published a book called "The Element" that I encourage everyone to read.
